Over the last day or two I’ve been contemplating serenity and its benefit to creativity. Often times, it is the popular culture image of the artist as tortured sort who lives from piece to piece, sale to sale, and off the goodness of their neighbors and family. While poverty and struggle often lead one to determination of their general worldview and alters the perception of the artist and twists the words of the poet, it is by no means the sole manner through which to create. Serenity offers a different perspective from struggle; this beautiful image from Oregon does the same and evokes the thoughts I’ve been having as I contemplate the image.
